Brisbane CBD – Best Overall Area to Stay in Brisbane

If you’re looking for convenience, Brisbane CBD (Central Business District) is the ultimate choice. This area is the beating heart of the city, with high-rise buildings, shopping precincts, and excellent public transport links.

It’s a hub for tourists and locals alike, offering easy access to the Brisbane River, South Bank, and popular attractions like the Story Bridge, Brisbane City Botanic Gardens and the newest dining and lifestyle precinct, the Howard Smith Wharves.

Personally, I highly recommend Brisbane CBD for first-time visitors who want to see everything Brisbane has to offer.

With plenty of accommodation options, you’ll be right in the heart of the action. Almost everything is within walking distance or easily reachable by public transport.

South Bank – Best Area for Culture and Dining

While there aren’t any budget accommodation options here, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, grab a bite, and people-watch on a lazy weekend.

In South Brisbane, you’ve got easy access to cultural landmarks like the Queensland Museum and the Brisbane Convention Centre. Over in West End, it’s all about bohemian charm, with quirky cafes, boutique shops, and lively weekend markets – which I highly recommend checking out.

These neighbourhoods are ideal if you love exploring unique spots, enjoying great food, and soaking up a creative and authentic side of Brisbane.
